Where the BR Series uses a conventional linear damping curve, the DS Series adds a digressive piston: higher damping force at low shaft speeds to control roll, pitch and weight transfer, with a softer high-speed response so the wheel can move over kerbs and rough surfaces without shocking the shell. Damper bodies are satin chrome finished. Ride height is set on the threaded bottom mount so spring preload and ride height stay separate, and the dampers remain rebuildable with spare-parts support.

Important — choose the correct self-levelling option. Y20 Volvos were built with or without OEM rear self-levelling. BC list separate kits; they are not interchangeable.
