ALG V40 Rear Chassis Brace Installation Instructions
Thank you for purchasing the ALG Performance V40 Rear Chassis Brace for V40 model cars.
Required tools:
- 13mm Socket and Ratchet or Impact Gun
- Stanley blade
- Tape measure or ruler
First, lower the back seats down into their folder position.
Remove the lower trim section of the rear seats, starting with the bottom piece ( you can take this out car)
The upper piece will need to be removed from the boot side. It will also be looped into the seat belt so manouver this out the way as much as you can.
You will then need to measure as shown in the photo below and make a cut from 6cm to 13cm using the knife. Please be carful, the carpet is thick and you'll need to use force.
Then, remove the carpet to gain access to the seat belts bracket.
Use the 13mm socket to remove the two bolts holding the bracket - be careful not to drop the bolts!
Take the side of the bracket you are working on and slide it through the cut you made in the carpet.
Line the holes up on the body with the ALG bracket, and then place the standard seat bracket over the top. Reattach using the two 13mm bolts you removed (use lock tight on the bolts)
Fold the carpet back into standard position and refit the two trim pieces back, with the larger part first. Ensure seabelt is operational and not trapped in trim.
Repeat on the other side
Slide in the bar in-between the plates on each side of the brackets, make sure to line up the holes to make inserting the fixings easier.
Unscrew your fixing kits, pictured is the quick release kit, you need to allow for one metal washer on the thumb screw and a metal washer and plastic washer on the handle.
Thread the bolt through the holes, please note first time installation may require you to 'screw' the bolt into place as the hole might be tight from painting.
Once inserted attach the thumb screw end onto the bolt.
Lock down the arm into position, this will pinch the bar tight, connecting both sides of the car and prevent rattling.
Repeat both sides!
ALG rear chassis brace installed! You can now fold up your rear seats and insert your load cover (if you wish!)
To remove the bar, follow back the process.
